Shemford School

Village Lathor is a bit of a trek if you’re coming from the main part of Bulandshahr, but that’s where we are located. We’re tucked away in Sikandrabad. Most people around here are farmers or work in small shops in the village. The school sits on a bit of land where we try to keep the grass trimmed, though it grows really fast during the monsoon. It’s a long road to get here and the morning commute for the staff usually involves a lot of bumps because the village roads aren't always in great shape. We’ve got the Shemford name on the gate, but inside it’s just us trying to keep things moving. We have classrooms for the local kids and a place for them to play outside. It gets quite cold in the winter mornings out here in the open fields. We see the thick fog rolling across the ground while we wait for the first bus to pull in. There isn't much around us besides a few houses and more fields. It’s a quiet life for the most part. We spend our time fixing broken chairs or making sure the water tanks are full for the day. It’s just practical work. No one here puts on any airs or acts like they are better than anyone else. We just want the kids to have a place to sit and learn their lessons without having to travel all the way into the city center.
