Gurukul Public School

Gurukul Public School is located out on Shikarpur Road in Khajpur Mirpur, Bulandshahr. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city center, which gives us a little more space than the schools downtown. The area is quite open, so we get a lot of wind and dust coming off the road. Every morning, the school buses pull in, and the whole place wakes up instantly. We’ve got a decent-sized building, though we are always thinking about which wall needs a new coat of paint next. The classrooms are filled with the sound of kids reciting their lessons and the scratching of pens. We spend a good chunk of our day making sure everyone is where they should be. The playground is a big open patch of ground where the kids run around until they’re exhausted. We have a small office where we handle all the fees and paperwork, and it’s usually the busiest room in the building. Life here is very much tied to the seasons; when it’s harvest time, sometimes attendance drops a bit because the kids are helping at home. It’s a very real, local way of running things. We don’t have any fancy mission statements hanging on the walls, just the daily schedule and the exam dates. We focus on getting the teaching done and making sure the kids are safe until their parents pick them up. It’s a simple, honest routine on Shikarpur Road.
