V. R. M. Engineering

Our workshop, V. R. M. Engineering, is situated at Plot No. 223 in the Cooperative Colony of Bokaro Steel City. Being in a place like Bokaro, you’re always surrounded by the industry. We fit right in with our scrap metal and the sound of welding. The colony is a bit quieter than the main industrial gates, which is nice for us. We have a decent sized plot where we keep our equipment. It’s not a polished environment by any means. There are grease stains on the floor and metal shavings in the corners, but that’s just how an engineering shop looks when it’s actually being used. We take on whatever jobs come our way, mostly small-scale stuff for local projects. A few of us work here together. We aren't big on titles or hierarchies. If something needs to be moved or fixed, whoever is closest just does it. The weather in Bokaro gets really hot, so we tend to start as early as possible to beat the midday sun. It’s hard work, and our hands are rarely clean, but there’s a certain satisfaction in finishing a piece and seeing it go out the door. We’ve been in this same spot for years, and we don't see ourselves moving anywhere else anytime soon. It’s just how we live and work here in the steel city.
