Kendriya Vidyalaya

Down in the Thermal area of Bokaro, life revolves around the plant and the school. We are situated right there, serving the families who live in the colony and nearby. It’s a government-style setup, so everything has its place. The buildings are painted the same shade, and the corridors are long and wide. We have a massive assembly ground where we stand in lines every single morning. It’s a big space, and it gets very cold in the winter mornings when the wind blows through. The teachers are often from different states, so you hear different accents in the staff room. People come and go every few years because of transfers, so we are used to saying goodbye to friends. The kids are mostly well-behaved, though there's always someone forgetting their tie or belt. We have a good library and some science labs that have been around for decades. The furniture is heavy and made of iron and wood. We don't go for anything modern or trendy. It’s about the books and the bells. When the shift ends at the thermal plant, the roads get busy, and that’s usually when our school day ends too. It’s a predictable routine, and most of us like it that way. It’s a solid part of the community here in Bokaro, and we just keep the wheels turning every day.
