Jiya Enterprises

Our business is based in the village of Matekona, which falls under the Illam Bajaar police station area in Birbhum. It’s a quiet place compared to the big cities, but we stay busy enough. We do a bit of everything here as Jiya Enterprises. The office is really just a room in our family house that we converted. Being in a rural district like Birbhum means we know almost everyone who comes through. We handle local supplies and sometimes help out with logistics for nearby farms. It’s a bit of a drive from the main town, so we have to plan our trips carefully. My son helps with the paperwork and the computer stuff, which I’m not great at. We don't have a website or anything like that; we just talk to people face to face. Sometimes the internet is slow, so we do things the old-fashioned way with a notebook. The weather here can be tough, especially in the monsoon when the roads get muddy. We just keep working through it. It’s a family-run thing, and we take pride in just being reliable for the people around here. We’ve been in Matekona for generations, so this business is our way of staying part of the community. We usually close early on Sundays to spend time together. It is a simple life and we like it that way.
