Haribhoomi

If you find yourself in Pendra, Bilaspur, you’ll likely pass by Azad Chowk. That is where we are located. Haribhoomi has been part of this community for a long time. Being in Chhattisgarh, especially in a place like Pendra, things move a bit slower than in the big cities, and we don't mind that at all. Our office is a place where people often drop by just to say hello or tell us what is happening in their part of town. We spend our days gathering information and making sure people know what is going on around them. It is a lot of talking to locals and writing things down on whatever scrap of paper is handy. The building is older and has its quirks, like the door that sticks in the monsoon or the way the light hits the desks in the late afternoon. We aren't trying to be some big fancy media house; we just want to be the place people look to for their local news. There are stacks of old papers everywhere and the smell of ink is pretty much stuck in the walls by now. The staff here grew up in the area, so we know the stories and the families. It’s hard work sometimes, especially when something big happens and we have to stay late, but mostly it is just the daily grind of keeping the records straight and the community informed.
