Karnani Food Products

If you walk down New Lane in Gangashahar, you'll find us in Karnani Mohalla. It’s a busy little area, tight streets and lots of activity. We started Karnani Food Products because we wanted to work for ourselves. It’s a bit cramped inside sometimes when we have a lot of stock coming in. We spend most of our time dealing with ingredients and making sure everything is packed up for the day. The neighbors are used to the smells coming from our place. It’s a mix of different things depending on what we are prepping. It isn’t some big factory with robots. We do a lot of it by hand. Sometimes my brother helps out, or we hire a few local guys when things get really busy during the festival times. The morning starts with a cup of tea and looking at what needs to go out first. We don't really have a fancy sign, just the address. People know us by word of mouth mostly. We’ve had to fix the roof twice last year because of the leaks. That’s just how it is with these older buildings in the Mohalla. It’s home though. We keep things moving, one day at a time. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy enough to not worry about much else. We just hope the truck can get down the narrow lane without getting stuck. It is a tight squeeze but we make it work.
