Desert Crafts

Desert Crafts is tucked away at 30 Karni Nagar. If you know where the Karni Bhawan Hotel is, we’re right behind it, near Ashiyana Place. It’s a bit of a quieter spot compared to the main roads. We deal with a lot of traditional items that people around here make. There’s a lot of embroidery, some wood pieces, and things made of leather. The shop is basically a large room where we pile things up. We don't have a professional decorator or anything like that. We just put things where they fit. Sometimes the goats from the street wander near the door, and we have to shoo them away. It's a very local feel. We spend a lot of time checking the quality of what comes in from the villages. Some days we are busy packing things into big crates to send off. The sun hits the front of the building in the afternoon, making it really bright inside. We have a couple of old chairs for anyone who wants to sit and talk for a bit. It’s not a fast-paced business. We take our time. Most of our day is spent sorting through fabrics or making sure the wooden items aren't getting too dry in the heat. It’s just a simple place doing what we know. We’ve been here for years, and most people around Karni Nagar know who we are.
