Natraj Marble

If you’re ever in Nakhatrana, you’ll find Natraj Marble right on the Main Road. We’re very close to the Bus Stand, which makes it easy for people to find us, even if they aren't from around this part of Kutch. Being near the bus stand means there is always noise and people running around. We’ve got our slabs of marble and stone set out where people can see them as they walk by. It’s a pretty basic setup. We have a small desk and a couple of chairs that have seen better days. Kutch can get really hot, so we spend a lot of time trying to stay out of the direct sun when we aren't helping someone. We don’t use any complicated words to describe what we do. It’s just marble. Some of it is white, some has veins, and it’s all heavy. We’ve been here at this At-Post Nakhatrana location for a good while. The local shopkeepers are all friends, so we usually know what’s going on in the district. Sometimes the dust from the road gets all over the polished surfaces, so we have to wipe them down every morning. It’s just part of the routine. We don’t have any big corporate goals. We just open the doors, move some stone, and go home to our families when the sun goes down. It’s honest work and it keeps us occupied.
