Laxmi Marble

Our shop, Laxmi Marble, is located on College Road along the Mirja Pur Highway in the Bhuj area of Kutch. Being out here in Kutch, we see a lot of different people coming through, especially with the highway right there. We have been operating from this spot for a long time, and we’ve seen the town grow quite a bit. The wind can get pretty strong around here, blowing sand into the yard, so we spend a lot of time cleaning off the marble slabs so people can actually see the colors and patterns. We carry all sorts of stone that people use for floors and walls. It’s a family-run business, and we don't really go for anything flashy. We just have our stocks piled up and we show people what is available. The Tehsil-Bhuj area is where we grew up, so we know most of the local contractors and builders who stop by. We aren't a big corporation; it’s just us and a few helpers. Sometimes the highway gets blocked up with trucks, which makes deliveries a bit of a headache, but we manage to get things where they need to go eventually. We prefer to do things the old-fashioned way, where a person comes in, looks at the stone, and we shake hands on a price. It’s honest work and it keeps us going day after day in this Kutch weather.
