Ar Asif Ali Khan

My name is Asif Ali Khan and I run my architecture practice out of my place at M-92 in Rajiv Nagar. This is in the Khandagiri area of Bhubaneshwar, zip code 751030. It’s a bit of a home-office setup, which I find works best for the kind of personal attention I give to my projects. I’ve been working in this neighborhood for a while now and most people around here know where I am. I don’t have a big staff or a fancy lobby. Usually, it’s just me at my drafting table or on my computer, working through the details of a new building or a renovation. The street outside in Rajiv Nagar is usually pretty quiet, which helps when I need to concentrate on complex drawings. I spend a lot of time visiting sites around Khandagiri to see how the construction is progressing. It’s a lot of walking around in the sun and talking to contractors. I like the practical side of architecture—making sure things are built right and that the space is used well. People just come by the house when they want to talk about a project. I don’t do any big advertising or anything like that. I just focus on the work in front of me and try to do a good job for the families and businesses in this part of Bhubaneshwar. It’s just me doing what I know how to do, day in and day out, without any big corporate talk.
