Swami Ji General Stores

We've been sitting here at Shop No 3 on Subhash Fatak Road for a good while now. Most people know us because we are right behind Apsara Cinema, which is a bit of a landmark in Subhash Nagar. It’s a busy spot in Bhopal and we try to keep things that people actually need every day. My family helps out at the counter. Sometimes it gets crowded when the train crossing is closed nearby and people are just waiting around. We sell everything from soap to snacks and stationery. It’s not a fancy place, just a regular general store where you can grab your milk or bread on the way home. The shelves are a bit packed and sometimes it takes a minute to find a specific brand of tea, but we usually have it somewhere. Dealing with the same faces every morning makes the day go by faster. We open early because the morning rush starts around seven. Most of our customers live right here in the colony. We know which neighbor prefers which biscuits and who always forgets their change. It’s just how things work here. The shop isn't huge, but it fits what’s necessary for the local kitchens. If you are passing by the fatak or coming from the cinema side, you’ll see our sign. Nothing special, just a place to get your groceries and chat for a second before heading back out into the traffic. It’s simple, and it keeps us busy.
