Surendra General Stor

My name is Surendra and I have this small shop on the Main Road in Jahagirabad. It’s called Surendra General Stor. People always ask about the spelling but that’s just how it ended up on the board outside. Bhopal is a busy city and this part of Jahangirabad stays quite active all through the day. I spend most of my time behind the wooden counter, waiting for customers or checking what stock is running low. It’s not a very big space, but I try to fit in as many things as possible because you never know what someone might ask for. One person wants soap, the next needs some spices or maybe a notebook for their kid. I’ve lived in this area for years, so I know the local vibe pretty well. The traffic outside can get loud, especially with the buses and autos zooming by on the main road. Sometimes it gets dusty, so I have to keep wiping the jars and packets to keep them clean. It isn't a glamorous job, but it is what I do. I usually close up quite late at night after the last few people finish their shopping. My family sometimes helps out when I need to go to the wholesale market to pick up new supplies for the week. We just try to keep things moving. There isn't much more to it than that. Just a simple shop for simple needs in 462008.
