Sawack General Store

Our store is located at Shop Number 57 on Hanuman Ganj Road. This is in the Jumerati area of Bhopal. It’s a very old part of the city. Hanuman Ganj is always crowded with people buying things. The roads are narrow and there are lots of rickshaws. We have been operating out of this shop for a long time. It’s a small space, but we make it work. We stock the usual general items that people need for their daily lives. I usually start my day by offering a small prayer and then opening the wooden doors. The air in Jumerati is full of the smell of spices and old buildings. It has a lot of character. We don't have any fancy air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that wobbles a bit. My cousins sometimes come by to help when it gets too busy. Most of our customers are shopkeepers themselves from the nearby lanes or people living in the old city. We keep a ledger for the accounts. It’s how we’ve always done it. Dealing with the wholesalers on Hanuman Ganj Road can be a bit of a headache sometimes, but it’s just part of the job. We are a simple establishment. People know where to find us when they need something quick. It’s a humble life, but it keeps us going.
