Our shop, Sai Kripa Kirana And General Store, is located at shop 7 in Sant Hirdaram Nagar. This is in the Bairagarh area of Bhopal, very close to the Gandhi Statue. If you know that statue, you know exactly where we are. Bairagarh is always moving, with a lot of traders and shoppers everywhere, so there is a lot of noise from the street. The shop is a mix of groceries and general items, so you might find lentils right next to some school supplies or light bulbs. I spend many hours every day standing behind the counter, which is made of old dark wood. The space is a bit tight because we try to keep as much stock as possible for our customers. We have large bags of rice sitting on the floor, and sometimes it is a bit of a squeeze to get past them. I use a simple calculator to add up the bills, and most people pay in cash. The walls are a bit dusty from the road traffic, and the ceiling fan doesn't do much on the hottest days, but we manage. People come in to get what they need and often stay for a quick chat about their day. It is a very normal, local business where we focus on having the basic things people use in their daily lives without trying to be anything fancy.
