R. G. Engineering Works

Our workshop, R. G. Engineering Works, is at Plot No. 6-A in Sector-C of the Industrial Area in Govindpura. We are quite close to the Asha Kanta, which is the big weighing scale everyone uses for their trucks around here. Being in Sector-C means we are surrounded by other engineering shops and small factories, so there is always the sound of grinding and welding in the air. The shop itself is a basic metal-roofed structure that gets pretty hot under the Bhopal sun. We have a couple of lathes and some older machines that still run perfectly fine if you treat them right. I usually get here early to open up the shutters and let the air circulate before the rest of the guys show up. We do a lot of repair work and custom jobs for the other businesses in Govindpura. It is the kind of place where you learn something new every day because every job that comes in is a little bit different. We keep our tools organized on a big board, though they usually end up scattered across the benches by noon. There is a small tea stall just down the road where we go when we need a break from the noise. It isn’t a glamorous life, but we take pride in fixing things that other people might just throw away. We just keep working until the job is done.
