Pooja General Stores

Our shop, Pooja General Stores, is tucked away in Nehru Nagar here in Bhopal. It’s been our family business for quite some time now. We aren't located on a main highway or anything, just a regular street where people live. We sell the basic things like pulses, sugar, some snacks, and soaps. It’s a small place but we try to fit in as much as we can on the wooden shelves. Most mornings start with the milk delivery arriving early. Then the regulars come by for their daily bread or eggs. We know most of the kids around here who come in for a single chocolate or a packet of chips after school. The shop stays open until late evening because someone always forgets to buy salt or matches for dinner. Sometimes the electricity goes out in this part of town, so we keep a few candles ready. It’s not a supermarket, just a place where you can get what you need without walking too far. The neighborhood has changed over the years with more houses coming up, but we stayed right here. We don't do any big advertising or anything. People just know where we are. If you’re walking through Nehru Nagar, you’ll likely spot us. We handle everything ourselves, from cleaning the jars to doing the accounts in a thick register at the end of the day.
