Mr General Store

Our place is located right on Raisen Road in Bhopal. It is a very busy stretch of road with cars and trucks passing by at all hours. The store itself is not very large, but we try to fit as much as we can onto the shelves. You can find basic things like soaps, snacks, and kitchen supplies here. In the middle of summer, Bhopal gets incredibly hot, so the shop stays warm even with the old fan humming away in the corner. Every morning starts with us checking what sold out the day before. We write these things down on little scraps of paper because we don't use computers for that kind of thing. Most of the inventory is just kept in our heads. We get a lot of students or people on their way to work who stop in for a quick bottle of water or a packet of biscuits. Change is often a problem since everyone seems to carry big notes these days. We stay open from early in the morning until quite late at night. The metal shelves sometimes rattle when a heavy truck goes past on the road outside. Running a general store here is a simple enough life. We know the bread delivery man and the milkman by their first names. They stop by for a few minutes, we have a quick chat, and then they are off again. Our goal is just to have the essentials ready for whoever happens to walk through the door next.
