Marutivan General Stores is right at 161, Pushpa Nagar Chauraha in the Aish Bagh area of Bhopal. Being on a chauraha means we are at a crossroads where everything happens. You see people from all walks of life passing by the 462010 area. We open up early because that’s when the first wave of people starts moving. The morning air in Bhopal can be nice, but it gets busy fast. We spend a lot of our time just checking the shelves and making sure we haven't missed anything. It’s a simple general store. We don't have a polished website or a marketing person. We just have our names and this physical space where we work every day. Sometimes the deliveries arrive all at once and the whole front of the shop gets blocked with boxes. We have to scramble to get everything inside. It's a bit chaotic but we're used to it. People around Pushpa Nagar know us by sight. We might not always have every single thing someone is looking for, but we do what we can. The walls are covered with items and the floor is usually a bit scuffed from all the foot traffic. It is a real place run by real people who just want to do their jobs and go home at night. It is a lot of work but it feels right to be here.
