Hansika General Store

The shop is located right in the middle of Main Market Jahagirabad in Bhopal. It’s a loud area with plenty of traffic and people always rushing somewhere. Being at Hansika General Store means we see a lot of that daily hustle. We usually open up early because that’s when the milk and bread deliveries arrive and everything needs to be put away before the crowd gets thick. The shop is filled with all the standard stuff like spices, tea leaves, and snacks. There are also plastics and household things hanging from the ceiling hooks because we try to use every bit of space we have. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so we have a small fan behind the counter that doesn’t do much but we’re used to it. Customers come in looking for specific brands of flour or just a single pen, and we spend a lot of time just reaching for things on the high shelves. We don't have any big signs or bright lights inside, just the old wooden racks and the smell of various grains mixed together. Most of the people who come here live nearby in Jahagirabad, so we recognize their faces even if we don't always know their names. It’s a simple life of counting change and refilling the jars when they get low. The days go by fast when you’re constantly moving boxes and talking to the people who stop by for their daily needs.
