Bihari Kirana Store

Bhopal is a big city, and our shop, Bihari Kirana Store, is located in Subhash Nagar. We actually use two shop spaces, numbers 13 and 14, in Subhash Market. Being near the Security Line means we get a mix of different people coming in. The shops are filled with sacks of grain and rows of oil tins. We try to keep the staples like atta and dal in the front because that’s what most people are looking for. It gets quite dusty around here, so we are always cleaning the glass jars. My brother and I manage the counter, and it can get a bit loud when we are both talking to different customers at once. We don’t use any fancy software to manage our stock; we just know by looking at the shelves what we need to order from the wholesalers. The market is a lively place with a lot of shouting and horns honking, but inside the shop, it’s mostly just the sound of weighing scales. We have some regular customers who have been coming to us since we first opened. We don't offer any discounts or special deals, just the regular prices for the things people need to cook their meals. It’s a steady business and we are content with how things go day to day in the market.
