Bhisam Kirana Store

Up here in Arera Hills, things are a bit different than the lower parts of Bhopal. Our shop, Bhisam Kirana Store, is a small place where we keep the essentials for the people living nearby. The address is Arera Hills, Bhopal, and we are right near the main residential blocks. We have shelves that go all the way to the ceiling, filled with packets of biscuits, detergent, and bags of salt. It is a quiet area mostly, but we get a rush in the evenings when people come home from their offices. The store is a bit cluttered because we try to fit as much as possible in a small area. We have a small wooden desk where we keep our accounts and a calculator that has seen better days. Sometimes the monkeys from the hills come near the shop, so we have to keep the door screened or watch the fruit carefully. We sell a lot of bottled water and cold drinks during the summer months. The fridge hums all day long and we have to keep an eye on the power cuts. We don't do any big advertising or anything like that. People just know we are here. We talk to the aunties about their recipes and the kids about their school. It is a basic kirana store, nothing more and nothing less. We just focus on making sure we have enough stock of the things people use every day, like turmeric and soap.
