Arif Kirana

I started Arif Kirana in the Hata Rustam area near Shamla Hills. Bhopal is a nice city and this neighborhood is where I feel most at home. My shop is not very large, but I carry all the essentials like rice, cooking oil, and washing powder. I spend most of my day sitting on a raised platform behind the counter. The hills are nearby, so the air is a bit better here than in the middle of the city. I know most of my customers by their first names and I know what they usually want before they even ask. It is just me running the show here. I get the stock delivered once a week, and that is usually the most stressful time because I have to find space for all the new sacks and boxes. Sometimes I miss a few things in the inventory, but I tell the customers I will have it by tomorrow. People around here are patient. I don't use any big advertisements or anything like that. The shop just exists for the people living in the nearby houses. I keep a jar of water for anyone who is thirsty. It is a quiet way to make a living and I have been doing it for quite some time now, even though the roof leaks a little when the monsoon starts.
