About Padmavathi Handicrafts – Art & Craft in Bhimavaram
Padmavathi Handicrafts is run out of H. No. 9-10-39 on Maddipatlavari Street. We are very close to the old Excise Station. It’s a quiet enough street most days, though you get the usual neighborhood noise. Our house serves as both a place to live and a place to work. We have been making handicrafts here for quite a few years. There are usually pieces of wood or fabric lying around the main work area. It is a very hands-on kind of life. We don't have a big factory or any machines. Everything is done by hand right here. The neighbors often see us working when they walk past the door. Maddipatlavari Street is where we grew up, so everyone knows us. We don't have a marketing plan or any big posters outside. People just know that Padmavathi Handicrafts is the place to go if they want something local. We spend our afternoons sitting in the shade near the front, finishing up whatever we started in the morning. Sometimes we have a lot of orders to finish, and other times it’s a bit slower. We just take it as it comes. The old Excise Station is a good landmark for people trying to find us for the first time. It is a humble way to make a living, but we enjoy the craft and being part of this community. We keep our supplies in the back room and just keep working.
