Balaji Fly Ash Bricks

Out here in Shanti Nagar, specifically at House Number 38 on Street 11, you will find our small operation, Balaji Fly Ash Bricks. We decided to get into fly ash bricks because the local demand for building materials in this part of town was growing fast. It is a family-run thing for the most part. My brother and I manage the production while our cousin helps with the truck schedules. It gets quite messy and grey around the yard because of the ash, so we are always wearing old clothes that we don't mind getting ruined. We don't have a big corporate office or a receptionist. If the phone rings, I usually answer it while I’m out near the machines. We focus on making sure the bricks are strong enough for the houses being built around here. Sometimes the machines act up or the water supply is a bit low, and we have to spend the whole afternoon fixing things ourselves. We don’t use any marketing teams to sell our bricks. Most people just see our sign or hear about us from their neighbors who have used our bricks for their own walls. It’s honest, hard work and the days are long, especially during the summer months when the heat is really something else. We just take it one day at a time, making sure each batch that leaves the yard is something we can be okay with.
