Chanakya Kids School

This school is located at D-41 in the Kaliabhid area of Bhavnagar. We are quite close to Lakhubha Hall, so if there is a function going on there, we can sometimes hear the music or the crowds from our classrooms. It’s a school for the younger ones, which means there is a lot of noise and energy from the moment we open the doors. The rooms are filled with small chairs and tables, and there are drawings taped up all over the walls. Some of the tape is peeling off, but we just stick it back up when we have a spare moment. We have a small outdoor area where the kids can run around for a bit before the sun gets too hot. In Bhavnagar, you have to be careful with the heat, so we make sure everyone stays inside during the peak hours of the afternoon. The parents are mostly local people from the nearby blocks who walk their kids over in the morning. We spend a lot of time tying shoelaces and helping with lunch boxes that are stuck shut. It isn't a huge place, just a few rooms and a hallway, but it stays very busy. The teachers are always carrying stacks of colored paper or boxes of crayons. We don't use many big words here, just simple talk to help the kids understand their letters and numbers before they head home to their families. It’s a lot of noise but we are used to it by now.
