Mani Hollow Bricks

My family has been running Mani Hollow Bricks here at 65 Main Road in Guruvareddiyur for quite some time now. It’s a busy spot right on the main stretch so there’s always a lot of noise and traffic going by. We specialize in hollow bricks because they are popular for the newer houses going up in the village and the surrounding areas. It’s just a small operation with a few machines and a yard for drying the blocks out in the sun. We do most of the work ourselves, from mixing the concrete to loading the tractor trailers when someone makes a big purchase. Sometimes the rain messes up our schedule and we have to cover everything with tarps, which is a real pain. But mostly we just keep at it. People stop by all day asking for prices or checking if we can deliver to the next town over. We don’t have an office staff or anything, so if the phone rings, one of us has to wipe our hands and answer it. It’s honest work and we take pride in seeing the houses around Guruvareddiyur that were built using our blocks. The yard gets pretty dusty and the work is hard on the back, but it’s what we do. We are right there on the road, so you can’t really miss the stacks of grey bricks sitting out front. We keep the gates open most days for anyone who needs to pick up a load.
