Surya Bricks Co. is situated just near Ankleshwar. Being in this area means we are close to a lot of development, but we still operate in a very traditional way. The brickyard is a place of constant movement. You have the mixers, the molders, and the guys who tend to the fire. It’s not a clean job by any stretch. Everyone ends up covered in red dust by the end of the shift. We’ve been near Ankleshwar for quite a while, seeing the town change while we just keep doing the same thing. Making a good brick takes patience. You can't rush the drying or the cooling phase or you get cracks. We’ve had our share of bad batches over the years, usually when the humidity is too high or the coal isn't burning quite right. It’s a learning process that never really ends. We sell to whoever needs them, mostly local builders who appreciate having a supplier right on the outskirts of town. We don't spend money on fancy signs or logos. Our reputation is just based on the piles of bricks people see leaving the yard on trucks every day. It’s a basic, functional business. If you need us, we are here by Ankleshwar, usually working from sunrise until late evening. It is a gritty job but someone has to do it so people can build their homes and shops in the city. We keep the fires going and the stacks high.
