We are based out of 102/8 in the G.I.D.C. Estate. If you’ve ever walked through the estate, you know it’s a lot of trucks and noise and dust everywhere. Rice India has been here for a while. The building isn't much to look at from the outside, but it’s solid and does the job. Inside, it’s mostly just the equipment and the space we need for the stock we keep. We spend a lot of time moving bags around and checking the quality of what comes in. It’s heavy work sometimes, and our backs feel it by the end of the week. The air usually smells a certain way, like dry earth and grain. We have a small desk near the front where we keep all the records. It gets pretty dusty in there no matter how much we sweep. The workers here have been around for years and they know the rhythm of the place. We don’t go in for anything fancy or modern. We just focus on what needs to be moved and what needs to be shipped out to the customers. G.I.D.C. is a busy place, and we are just one part of the machinery. Lunch breaks are usually spent sitting outside if the weather is okay. We talk about our families or how the local teams are doing. Then it’s back to the heavy bags. It’s just how Rice India operates. We don't have a big marketing team or website. It's just a warehouse and our hands.
