Sharda Vidhyamandir

This school is tucked away in Bhagat Lal Mishra Lane, right off Bhattaroad in Bhagalpur. It’s a bit of a maze to get here if you don’t know the area well. We’ve been in this building for many years. It has that old school feel with high ceilings and heavy wooden desks that have names carved into them by students from ten years ago. We handle kids of all ages. The morning assembly is usually the loudest part of the day when everyone gathers in the courtyard. We have teachers who have spent their whole careers here in Tilkamanjhi. It’s a community school, really. Most of the families living around Bankhanjarpur send their children to us. We teach the usual subjects like maths, science, and Hindi. It’s a lot of chalk dust and correcting notebooks every afternoon. Sometimes the fans don’t work right during the summer heat, but the kids don't seem to mind much. We don't have fancy computers in every room, but we have enough for the basic classes. It’s a place where things move slowly. We know most of the parents by name because we see them every day at the gate. It’s just a regular school doing what it can for the local kids in this part of town. We try to keep the garden neat too, though the goats sometimes get in and eat the flowers when the gate is left open by accident.
