Southern Natural Stones

Southern Natural Stones is situated right along Dhone Road, specifically at Sy. No. 591/3. It’s a wide-open space because you need a lot of room for natural stone. The wind blows pretty hard across the road sometimes, which keeps the dust moving all over the yard. We spend most of our time outside. We have piles of different stones that we've collected. Some of it is rough, and some of it is cut down into smaller sizes. It’s a lot of heavy work. My hands are usually pretty rough from handling the material all day. We don't have a big office or anything like that. Just a small place to sit down and maybe have some tea when it’s not too busy with customers. Trucks come in from the quarries and we unload them using the old crane we have out back. It’s a bit slow sometimes, but we get the job done eventually. People come by looking for stuff for their walls or floors. We show them what we have in the stacks. Sometimes they like the natural patterns, sometimes they don't. That’s just how it is with stone from the earth. It’s never the same twice. We’ve been at this location for some years now. It's a straightforward life, working with the land and the materials it gives us. We just keep things moving one day at a time without much fuss. The traffic on Dhone Road never seems to stop.
