Our shop is right in Purushottampur, which is part of the Berhampur district. We are situated very close to the Raghunath Temple, so we hear the temple bells ringing throughout the day. It is actually quite nice, especially in the early mornings before the street gets too crowded. The area around here is always full of people walking to the temple or going to the market. We mostly handle trading goods and it keeps us busy from morning until late evening. The humidity in Berhampur can be quite a lot during the summer months, so we usually have the fans running full speed. Our space is not very large, but we manage to fit everything we need on the tall wooden shelves. The floor is concrete and we try to sweep it twice a day because of the foot traffic. We know most of the people who live nearby. Sometimes they just stop in to say hello or ask about the weather. It is a very local kind of life here. We do not have any big signs or bright lights. Just the name on the front and some chairs for visitors. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for deliveries to arrive. It is just a normal trade business in a busy part of town. We are happy being near the temple because it feels like the heart of the community. Most days we are just busy counting items.
