Sri Laxmi Traders

You can find Sri Laxmi Traders over in Paralakhemundi, which is in the Gajapati district. We are right near the Andhra Bank, so it’s easy for people to spot us when they’re out doing their banking. Our building is nothing special to look at, just a regular storefront where we keep our stock. We deal in various goods, mostly trading things that local shops and farmers need. The street outside can get pretty crowded with bikes and the occasional cart, but that’s just how life is in this part of town. I usually start the day early, opening up the shutters around eight. My brother helps me with the lifting and moving of bags and boxes. We have a small desk where we keep our ledgers. We still write everything down by hand mostly, though we have a phone for taking orders. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, so we have a couple of old ceiling fans that make a lot of noise but keep the air moving. We aren't trying to be the biggest place around, just a steady spot where people can get what they need without any fuss. If the bank is busy, people sometimes wait in our shop for a bit of shade. We’ve lived in Paralakhemundi all our lives, so we know the area and the people pretty well. It’s a simple business, but it keeps us busy every day from morning to night.
