Parasnath Marbles & Granites

Parasnath Marbles & Granites is tucked away in Yelahanka, which used to be a quiet place but now has buildings going up everywhere you look. We’ve seen the whole area change over the years while we’ve been sitting here with our piles of stone. The yard is mostly open to the sky, so we are always checking the clouds to see if we need to cover anything up or if it’s going to be a hot one. We have all sorts of granite stacked against the walls, and sometimes the slabs have been sitting there so long they get a bit of moss on the edges. Moving them requires the crane, and that’s a slow process that takes two of us to watch the angles. We don’t have any fancy displays or bright lights. Most people just walk through the rows of stone with us and point at what they like. The tea man comes by at eleven and four, and that’s usually when we take a break from the heavy lifting. It’s physical work and your hands get rough from handling the unpolished sides of the rock. We just try to keep the place tidy, though with all the mud and stone chips, it’s a bit of a losing battle. It’s just how a stone yard is supposed to be, I guess. We spend the day talking to contractors and making sure the measurements are written down correctly in our rough notebooks.
