Mahalakshmi Garnite

Our shop is at No. 683 along the 4th Main Road in Sirnagar. We spend most of our time surrounded by big slabs of stone. It’s a dusty job, and by the end of the day, everything we wear is covered in a fine layer of grey, but that’s just how it goes with granite. Sirnagar is a decent place to be based. The 4th Main Road is wide enough for the trucks to come in and unload the heavy blocks we get from the quarries. We don't have a big sales team or anything like that. Usually, it’s just one of us sitting in the small office near the front while the rest of the guys are out back working the cutters. We show people the different patterns and colors that come in. No two pieces of stone are exactly the same, which is the interesting part of the job. We’ve been at this address for a good while now, and we’ve seen the neighborhood grow around us. People come in looking for something for their kitchen or floors, and we just show them what we have on the racks. It’s straightforward work. We don't use a lot of big words or try to push people into buying things. If the stone looks good and the price is fair, people usually take it. We just focus on cutting it straight and getting it delivered.
