Vishweswara Exim

Our office is tucked away in the Golden Square building on 16th Main, right in the 4th Block area near Palace Road. We spend most of our time dealing with heaps of paperwork and talking on the phone to various people. Export and import is a lot of waiting and then a lot of rushing all at once. Because we deal with different time zones, someone is often here at odd hours. The desks are usually covered in shipping forms and customs documents. We have a small window but there isn't much of a view, just the street below. It gets a bit cramped inside with all the files we have to keep for the records. We don't have a big sign outside, just a small nameplate so people know they have the right place. Sometimes the courier guys get confused trying to find 53/A, so we end up going down to the street to meet them. We handle a lot of different goods depending on what is moving in the market. It isn't a glamorous job at all. There is a lot of stress when a shipment is stuck at a port or a truck is delayed at a border. We drink a lot of coffee from the machine in the corner to stay alert. The neighbors are mostly other small businesses, so it is a busy but professional atmosphere. We just try to keep the goods moving.
