You can find Vijayalakshmi Painters over at 191 Manjunath Nagar. We are in the Nehru Nagar area, which is pretty easy to find if you know where the Navarang Theatre is. Most people use the theatre as a landmark because it’s so big. Our place is a bit smaller and more tucked away. Being a painter means a lot of manual labor. We are usually out on jobs, but the shop is where we keep all the gear. There are buckets and rollers everywhere. The neighborhood is lively, especially when there’s a new movie playing at Navarang. The crowds can get thick on the weekends. We’ve been at this spot for a while now. The walls in the shop could probably use a fresh coat themselves, but we are usually too busy working on other people's places. It’s a simple setup at 191. We don’t have a receptionist or a lobby. If we are in, the door is open. If we are out, we are out. We just try to get the work done and move on to the next one. The traffic on the main road can be a headache, but we’ve learned the shortcuts through the side streets of Manjunath Nagar. It’s a working-class area and that suits us just fine. We show up, grab our tools, and head out. It’s been our routine for years and it works for us. We just keep our heads down and paint what needs painting.
