Vel Industries

The shop is at H Siddaiah Road Main Road 19/20. This street is famous for parts and machinery, and Vel Industries is right in the thick of it. If you walk inside, you will see metal everywhere. There is a smell of oil and grease that never really goes away, no matter how much we clean. We work with our hands mostly. It’s loud because of the cutting and the grinding. My clothes usually have a few stains on them by noon. We have a couple of benches where the work gets done and a small desk in the corner for the paperwork. The lighting isn't great, but we have some bright lamps over the work areas. H Siddaiah Road is a tough place to park, so everything is usually loaded and unloaded very quickly. We get all sorts of people coming in looking for specific things. Sometimes we have to tell them we can't do it, but usually, we find a way. It’s been 19/20 for a long time now. We don't have a website or anything like that; people just know we are here. The hours are long and the work is hard on the back, but it’s what we know. When the sun goes down, we roll down the shutters and head out into the traffic. It’s just another day for us here. We keep it simple and try to get the jobs done right before the next morning comes along.
