The Vigil Security Service

We are over at Plot No-12 in the Krishna Building. If you know Mathikere, you probably know the 1st Main Road. It is a major thoroughfare and it gets pretty packed during rush hour. Our office for The Vigil Security Service is tucked away inside the building, away from all that noise on the street. It is a solid old building with thick walls. We have a couple of rooms where we keep our uniforms and do the hiring. It is not the kind of place with a lot of chrome and glass. We have some mismatched chairs and a table that wobbles if you lean on it too hard. Our staff are mostly guys from around this part of Bangalore who needed a steady job. We spend a lot of time on the phone coordinating where everyone needs to be. Sometimes the water in the building runs low in the summer, so we have to bring in cans. It’s just part of being here. We don’t have a big website or a social media manager. People usually just find us by looking at the sign on the building or by asking around the neighborhood. We focus on getting the shifts covered and making sure everyone gets paid on time. It is a simple life and a simple business. We try to be fair and just get the job done without making a big fuss about it.
