The Oberoi

Being over at G-21 in the St Johns Medical College Staff Quarters feels a bit different than what you might expect for a name like The Oberoi. Koramangala is always moving and shaking, but inside the quarters, it has its own separate rhythm. I spend my time here in Bangalore handling the various bits and pieces that people usually do not see. It is a busy spot with nurses and doctors coming and going at all hours, and then there is us, tucked away in this specific block of the 560 034 area. It is not a polished hotel lobby with marble floors and fancy uniforms. It is just a room with desks, some chairs, and a lot of paperwork. Sometimes the power goes out or the internet gets a bit slow, but that is just life in the city. We do not have a big sign outside. Most people living around here probably do not even know what we are doing in G-21. I like the local tea shops nearby for a quick break when things get too quiet or too hectic. The staff quarters have a real community feel that you just do not get in a high-rise office building. You see the same faces every morning near the main gate. It is a bit crowded and the parking is always a bit of a headache, but we make it work. It is more about the day-to-day tasks than any grand corporate vision.
