The Leela Palce Bangalore

Our place is situated on Airport Road, specifically at the 4th Cross in Kodihalli. It’s a big, impressive building, but when you work here, you see the side of it that guests don't usually notice. We spend our time in the back hallways, the kitchens, and the utility areas. It’s a lot of walking. The gardens are nice, and we try to keep them looking good, but it’s hard work in the Bangalore sun. We are right there in the 560008 zip code area. The traffic on Airport Road is always humming in the background. Our shifts start early, sometimes before the sun is even up, especially for the breakfast crew. We have a lot of different people working here, from the cleaners to the folks at the front desk. It’s like a small city inside one building. We don't really think about the fancy part of it; to us, it’s just about making sure the floors are swept and the guests have their towels. It gets very busy during the wedding season, and we all have to pitch in more then. It’s a high-energy environment, but we still take our breaks in the staff canteen like anywhere else. It’s a famous spot in Bangalore, but for us, it’s just where we go to work every day. We finish our shifts and catch the bus home like everyone else.
