The Leela Palace Kempinski,Bangalore

This place is quite big and sits right here in the 560008 area of Bangalore. Most people just call it the Leela Palace. It’s been standing here for years and it’s a very large building with lots of rooms and gardens. If you walk through the grounds, you’ll see workers everywhere tending to the plants or cleaning the floors. It takes a lot of people to keep a place this size running correctly. We have staff who have been here since the very beginning and others who just started last week. The lobby is always full of people checking in or waiting for someone. It gets quite loud during the wedding season when there are flowers and music everywhere. The building itself has a lot of stone and carvings which look like they took a long time to make. We spend our days making sure the lights are on and the rooms are ready for whoever is showing up next. It’s a lot of walking back and forth because the hallways are long and the ceilings are high. Karnataka weather can be unpredictable, but inside it stays pretty much the same. We don’t really think of it as a fancy palace when we are working; to us, it’s just the place where we come every morning to do our jobs. There’s a lot of coordination between the kitchen and the front desk and the cleaning crews. It is a busy spot but we just take it one day at a time.
