The Leela Palace, Bangalore

You will find us at number 23, right on the Old Airport Road in the Kodihalli area. The Leela Palace is a huge place, and it is hard to miss because of the way it is built. While it looks very grand from the outside, for those of us working here, it is just a place where we put in our hours. There are hundreds of us working behind the scenes. We spend our time in the laundry rooms, the kitchens, and the hallways. It is a lot of walking and a lot of heavy lifting. The traffic outside in Bangalore is almost always stuck, especially near the airport road entrance. Inside, we just focus on the task at hand, whether that is polishing the brass or making sure the gardens are watered. We do not have time for corporate speeches about excellence. We just want to make sure the guests have what they need and that the day goes by without any major accidents. It is a busy environment and it can be pretty stressful when there is a big event going on. We have seen all sorts of people come through those doors, but at the end of the day, we are just the staff trying to keep everything running smoothly. It is a big responsibility, but we just take it one shift at a time and do our best to finish the work.
