The Capitol Hotel

You can find us over at No.26, 12th Cross, IInd Main in the Kallappa Block of Srinagar. It is a bit of a specific spot in Bangalore, 560050 to be exact. The Capitol Hotel has been here for a good bit, and we are tucked into the neighborhood where things feel a little more like old Bangalore compared to the shiny new parts of town. Working here means we know the local shops and the neighbors pretty well. It is a hotel, so we see people coming and going at all hours, but we try to keep things grounded. We don't use those scripted greetings you get at the big international chains. We just say hello and help people with their bags or tell them where the best local food is. The building has its quirks, like any place that’s been around for a while, but we keep it tidy. Sometimes the 12th Cross gets a bit jammed with bikes, but that is just Srinagar for you. We have a few staff members who have been here for years, and we just treat the place like it’s our own. There isn't any big secret to how we do things. We just make sure the rooms are ready and the lights are on. It is a practical business for practical people. We just show up every morning and do what needs to be done to keep the doors open and the guests satisfied.
