Sumit Granites

If you drive down Kanakapura Road, you’ll find us at 175/176. It’s a large yard filled with different kinds of stone. Sumit Granites is mostly about heavy lifting and getting dusty. We have big slabs of granite stacked everywhere, and we spend a lot of our time moving them around with cranes or loading them onto trucks. It’s not a clean job. By the end of the day, our boots are covered in stone dust and our backs are usually a bit sore. People come here when they are building houses or fixing up their kitchens. They walk around the yard looking at the patterns in the stone. We don't do much selling; the granite usually speaks for itself. We just tell them how much it costs and how heavy it is. The sun can be quite hot out here on the road, so we have a small shed where we sit and have water. We don't have any fancy brochures or a glossy showroom. What you see is what you get. We’ve been at this location for a good while and have seen Kanakapura Road change from a quiet stretch to a very busy highway. Despite all the new buildings popping up around us, we just keep doing what we’ve always done. It’s honest, heavy work, and we take some pride in seeing our stone end up in someone’s new home. It’s a straightforward way to make a living and we appreciate the work.
