Subramanya Shastry

Operating out of the KSRTC Central Office Compound near the Bangalore GPO means we are right in the middle of all the government activity. This area has a lot of old trees and big buildings, and our office is tucked away where things feel a bit more settled compared to the main roads. My name is Subramanya Shastry, and this is where I spend most of my daylight hours. The office isn't anything special to look at, just a sturdy desk, a couple of chairs for visitors, and stacks of papers that seem to grow every week. Being near the GPO, we get a lot of mail and people coming through the compound for various official reasons. The air here feels a bit different because of the open space around the central office, though you still get the hum of the city in the distance. I usually start the day by sorting through whatever came in the previous afternoon. It’s a quiet kind of work, mostly involving reading and writing at the desk. The furniture is old wooden stuff that has probably been here longer than I have. Sometimes the monkeys from the nearby trees come onto the window ledge, which is a bit of a distraction. I don't really have a big staff or anything, just a simple room where the work gets done one step at a time until the sun goes down over the compound walls and it is time to head home.
