Star Aluminium & Hardware

Star Aluminium & Hardware is located at 12/5 on Mdb Road in Kalachipalayam. We have a lot of long metal sections leaning against the walls and boxes of screws piled all over the place. It is a narrow shop, so you have to be careful not to trip over anything when you walk inside. The smell of cut metal is always in the air here. We do a lot of cutting and measuring right at the front counter. It gets quite noisy when the saw is running, so we usually have to shout a bit. People from the neighborhood come in for small things like hinges, locks, or drawer handles. We also get the bigger contractors who need a lot of aluminium window frames for new buildings. Mdb Road is a very busy street, so there is always a lot of honking and engine noise right outside our door. We have been in this location for many years now. The floor is scratched up from moving the heavy aluminium pieces around, but that is just expected in this line of work. We do not use a computer for our billing, we just write everything out by hand in a big paper ledger. It works fine for us. Sometimes the rain comes in through the front if the wind is blowing the right way. We just move the stock back a few feet until it stops. It is not a fancy store. It is just a place to get hardware.
