Sri Thirumala Granite

Our place, Sri Thirumala Granite, is located right on Sarjapur Main Road in Doddakannelli. If you’ve ever driven through this part of Bangalore, you know how the traffic can get. We are at 25/13A, tucked right into the mix of shops and houses. The yard is filled with all sorts of slabs we’ve brought in. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes when the big trucks arrive to deliver new stock. We spend most of our mornings just moving things around with the crane so people can actually see the patterns in the stone. It’s not a quiet job by any means. There is always the sound of water and saws running in the back. My cousins and I run the show here. We don’t really have a big office or anything fancy to show off. Usually, we are just standing around in our boots, talking to contractors or homeowners who stop by while they’re out running errands. It gets pretty dusty, especially in the summer months when the wind picks up off the main road. We just focus on keeping the slabs organized so we know what we have left. People from the nearby apartments usually walk over to ask about prices or look at colors. We don’t do much talking; we just show them the stacks and let the stone speak for itself. It’s a simple way to make a living for our families. We stay busy from morning till the sun goes down.
