Sri Nanjundeshwara Granites

Over at No. 140 in Machohalli, along the Magadi Main Road, you’ll find Sri Nanjundeshwara Granites. It’s a busy stretch of road, and there are plenty of other granite yards nearby, but we’ve been at this spot for quite some time. The yard is usually quite full, with slabs leaning against each other in long rows. You have to be careful walking between them because they are very heavy and the ground isn't always perfectly level. We spend our days moving these pieces with the gantry crane and talking to the drivers who come to pick up orders. The sound of the traffic on Magadi Road is always in the background, mixed with the sound of stone being moved. We don't have a showroom with air conditioning or anything like that. We just have a small shack where we keep the records and take a break for lunch. It gets pretty dusty, especially when the wind blows off the main road, but that’s just life in a granite yard. We see a lot of builders and homeowners who come by to pick out specific colors for their projects. We just give them a bit of space to look around. If they have questions about how a certain granite holds up, we tell them what we know from seeing it used over the years. It’s basic work, but it’s what we know.
