About Sri Manjunatha Borewells – Energy in Bengaluru
Running Sri Manjunatha Borewells out of Banagirinagar Lakxmannagar Society 31 keeps us pretty busy with all the new building going on lately. Borewells are messy work, there’s no way around that. We spend most of our time out on sites with the rigs, so the office here is mostly for keeping the logbooks and spare parts. If you come by, you’ll probably see some heavy equipment parked nearby or just some grease on the floor. It’s loud work when the drilling starts, but that’s the only way to get down to the water. We’ve been around this part of town long enough to know where the rocks are tough and where it’s easier to dig. The crew is just a few guys who don't mind getting their hands dirty. We drink a lot of tea while the machines are running. It's not a desk job, that's for sure. Sometimes the weather makes things hard, like when the ground gets too soft for the trucks, but we manage to get it done. People around the society know us as the guys who deal with the water pipes and the deep drilling. It’s hard labor, and by the end of the day, everyone is tired and covered in dust. But people need water, so the work stays steady. We don't do much talking, mostly just focusing on the sound of the engine and making sure the bit is going where it should. We just finish up and move to the next spot.
